Event Highlights: The event was kicked off with a morning press conference. Mayor pro-tem Kathy Pender welcomed guests and got the festivities underway. The program consisted of morning and afternoon sessions focusing on alternative fuel vehicles and biodiesel production and use. A wide variety of AFVs were on display ranging from hybrid cars and electric- and biodieselpowered vehicles. Mecklenburg County Air Quality provided free gas cap checks in the parking lot with free caps to those that failed in order to raise awareness of the small steps that individuals can do to make a difference.
