The key theme of the Valley of the Sun’s 2014 Odyssey event was the role alternative fuels could play in the event of an interruption of petroleum fuel supplies. Displays at the event included a biodiesel fire truck, biodiesel ambulance, E85 taxi, LPG service truck, and biodiesel-hybrid bucket truck. The Assistant Director of the Arizona Emergency Management Department spoke about the use of alternative fuel vehicles in emergency services.

The event also included information on plug-in hybrids and other electric drive cars and their HOV lane access, a booth by the Arizona State University EcoCar3 team and tours of the Gateway Community College alternative fuel technology training center.
