Students at University High School celebrated their Odyssey 2014 event by spending the day studying the impact of fossil fuels on the environment, types of alternative fuels available for public use, alternative fuel production and infrastructure.
Students built and tested model alternative fuel vehicle power sources including a small hydrogen car.
Host/School: University High School, West Virginia
Event Highlights: University High School engineering classes viewed the Odyssey video. Many of the students were interested in both the cost savings and performance of AFVs. At the time of Odyssey, students were working on alternative fuels and propulsion methods and experimenting with methanol and jet propulsion. While the end result was still burning a fuel, the class felt that using renewable resources is a big step forward.
