Event Highlights: The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission, in coordination with South East Texas Clean Cities, organized the 2010 Southeast Texas Odyssey event. Held at the Robert A. “Bob” Bowers Civic Center in Port Arthur, Texas, the event featured ten industry experts who presented information on alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, new technologies, electric vehicles, and other topics. Attendees visited the many information booths where experts were available to field questions. More than a dozen alternative fuel vehicles were also displayed including buses, cars, trucks, recreational vehicles, tractors, and lawn equipment. The activities were featured on the local CBS, ABC, and NBC affiliate news broadcasts.

2006

Host Site Coordinator: The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC), Beaumont, TX

Event Type: Vehicle Displays, Exhibits, Presentations

Attendees: 40 Students, Government Officials, General Public

Event Highlights: Attendees were treated to coffee and donuts during registration and given an opportunity to network and visit exhibit tables and AFV displays. The event kicked off with the showing of the Odyssey Day video. Lectures then took place discussing topics such as CNG, propane, biodiesel, and success stories of individuals who currently use or drive alternative fuel vehicles. Door prizes were also awarded to attendees including three 2-day AFV car rentals. In addition, with the added concern for rising gas prices, local media came out to the event and aired stories on the nightly news. Overall, the Odyssey event was a great success and further helped to educate individuals about the viable options currently available to them.
