Event Highlights: During the Odyssey 2014 event at Seminole State College, automotive students attended a seminar about petroleum reduction technologyesand alternative fuel vehicles. Two NAFTC National Training Center instructors, Michael Ossmer and Inshan Edoo, lectured on the importance of petroleum reduction and fundamentals of hybrid and electric vehicles with an emphasis on safety when working on high voltage automotive vehicles. There were various electric and hybrid vehicle components as well as several hybrids and an electric Ford CMax on display.

Event Highlights: Seminole State College of Florida held its National AFV Day Odyssey event in conjunction with the fourth annual campus car and truck show. As part of the event, several electric cars, trucks, and motorcycles were on display. Information on alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles was also passed out to attendees. The car show raised more than $1,600, which will be used to fund scholarships for automotive technology students.

Event Highlights: Seminole Community College’s (SCC) Second Annual Car and Truck Show was held in conjunction with National AFV Day Odyssey 2008 and brought hundreds of spectators out to SCC. The show raised $2,000 for automotive scholarships and an impressive total of 66 vehicles entered the show (up from 47 last year). Among the highlights of the event were the appearances of electric and other alternative fuel vehicles as part of SCC’s first National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey. SCC was one of only two locations in Florida holding Odyssey events. The show was held at SCC’s CFADA Professional Automotive Training Center (PATC) and was sponsored by Courtesy Ford, SCT Tuning, Matco Tools, Spas Etc. and Next Level. The car show also included tours of SCC’s Professional Automotive Training Center, a children’s safety village from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and Xtreme Dyno Challenge drag racing. “Rock the Vote” was also on hand to register voters.
