Event Highlights: The Oglebay Institute’s Schrader Environmental Center hosted its Odyssey event in conjunction with the annual West Virginia Science Teacher’s Conference. The center welcomed the community to fun-filled Odyssey day, which included informational booths set up by local businesses promoting bicycling and electric bikes; local car dealerships with high mileage and hybrid cars; local manufacturers of biodiesel, cars powered by compressed natural gas and alternative fuels; and local citizens sharing their experiences owning and driving hybrid automobiles. In addition to the information booths and ongoing children’s activities, a series of lectures were hosted in the Hall of Learning and were highlighted by demonstrations and discussions on topics including hybrid engineering and biodiesel production.
