Event Highlights: Genesee Region Clean Cities Coalition partnered with the Monroe Community College Applied Technologies Center to host their fourth consecutive Odyssey event.

A group of 165 secondary students from local vocational programs and 85 college students form the vehicle technology program, as well as fleet managers and the general public attended the event and were provided a brief presentation on the basics of alternative fuel vehicles. Following the presentation, the students  viewed a vehicle display and had the opportunity to see twenty alternative fuel vehicles in both the light and heavy-duty classifications. The fuel types represented included LPG, CNG and various HEVS and PHEVs. Fueling and infrastructure vendors were also on hand to explain their industries.

Event Highlights: The Genesee Region Clean Communities Odyssey event was designed as a display and Ride-and-Drive event. The event was hosted on the campus of the Monroe Community College Applied Technology Center in Rochester, NY. The event’s attractions included 19 different vehicles that span the entire spectrum of AFVs, including LPG and CNG vehicles, plug-in hybrids, electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and hydrogen fuel vehicles. There were also several displays by fuel and tech vendors. There was robust participation from the MCC campus and the Alfred State students—both have strong programs in auto tech.

Event Highlights: Genesee Region Clean Communities partnered with the Monroe Community College Applied Technologies Center – Automotive Technology Program for their college-based Odyssey event. Designed as an informal “drop by” open house intended to celebrate alternative fuel vehicles, the event showcased a wide range of available AFVs including CNG, propane, electric, HEV cars and trucks, hydrogen fuel cells, and plug-in hybrids.  There was also an on-site biodiesel fueling demonstration along with staffed information tables that created a forum for discussion. Refreshments were also available.

Event Highlights: The event was kicked-off by a fueling demo and fuel station tour held at the Monroe County Green Fuel Station, which has fueling capability for hydrogen, B20 and E85. The highlight of the tour was the new hydrogen fueling station used for the county fleet and RIT. A green vehicle parade also took place from the RIT campus. Vehicles in the parade included a hydrogen fuel cell Equinox, two hydrogen ICE Ford hybrid Escapes, a CNG Honda GX, a Chevy Tahoe HEV, and a Chevy cargo van –B20. All vehicles in the parade were left on display in front of the Student Alumni Union and discussions were encouraged. The RIT Sustainability Institute gave mini-lectures on their research projects and also a discussion about the vehicle technology. The fleet staff from the University of Rochester was there with a hybrid vehicle and they brought an electric Segway and gave rides to the attendees.
