2010 Odyssey Overview

Who Conducts

  • Event sites are coordinated and hosted by NAFTC members, National Clean Cities Coalitions, and others who believe in cleaner, more energy-efficient forms of transportation. Upon becoming a participating site, coordinators will be encouraged to customize each local site event to accommodate the needs of their area while meeting the overall national goals and objectives.

Who Attends/Participates

  • Decision-makers, fleet owners, the automotive workforce, civic-minded individuals, consumers, and the general public. This event will allow the audience to experience the excitement of and gain knowledge about AFVs and advanced technology vehicles.
  • Odyssey is open to all interested parties. To learn how you can attend, host an event, become a sponsor or partner, or to find out about the success of past Odyssey events, contact Virginia McMillen at Virginia.McMillen@mail.wvu.edu.

Why

  • AFVs and advanced technology vehicles are viable options for consumers. Continued education is crucial in order for consumers to make well-informed and environmentally friendly choices in transportation.
  • In the midst of continually rising gas prices, the NAFTC and USDOE Clean Cities Program, and our partners feel that it is more important than ever to promote the use of alternative fuels and energy-efficient vehicles.
  • The philosophy of National AFV Day Odyssey is that a focused, well-defined, national public awareness event will bring national attention to cleaner, more energy-efficient, and smarter choices in alternative transportation technologies.

Proven Results

  • Odyssey results show that the 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008 events were tremendous successes. Sponsors, partners, NAFTC members, Clean Cities Coordinators, and attendees alike have seen how valuable the program can be for promoting energy independence and supporting the environment. They have also seen the proven results of Odyssey and the millions of individuals reached by its message. We hope that you will become part of the solution and join us on Friday, October 15, 2010. Together we can make a difference!
